Mycenae – inspiration for creation
The entire structure is awe inspiring!
Another glorious Greek era becomes the inspiration for creation. Mycenaean.
Mycenaean civilization radiated from Central Asia, the Near East and Egypt to the Western Mediterranean and NW Europe. Greece was then, as it is now, the bridge between East and West. During the flourishing of Mycenae (1600-1100 BC), leading groups of warriors developed relations with the already advanced Minoans, a central administration was established and, as proven by the rich offerings of the vaulted tombs, a socially hierarchical and prosperous society was created.
Before Mycenae was lost in time, the myth of the “golden” city has already been created… Ornate jewellery made of gold and amber, luxurious weapons, utensils decorated with curves and geometric themes, belts with meanders, concentric circles, spirals, swirls and zigzag lines. With respect and admiration, they are transferred to present and prove their timelessness. Classical patterns and symbols are reinterpreted as modern lifestyle accessories. They come to life again on contemporary objects offering generously an ancient feel.
