Description
Pair of gorgeous textured limestone bookends, with white, gold and brown veins, which compose irregular patterns. This marble is mined from the slopes of Elikon mountain near Thebes. In the Middle Ages the area was famous for its stone villas, some of which are preserved to this day. The marble of the area is known from many ancient and modern works of art which were sculpted from it. Pieces of this marble have been used to decorate the monument of John F. Kennedy.
Each piece of marble used for the making of these book stands is hand-picked. Every single one is entirely unique and cannot be identical with any other, because the stone is naturally formed over thousands of years. The hand painted details on the bookends are inspired by embroidery patterns.
Greek marble is famous for its quality and for its glorious representation in ancient and contemporary art. These bookends feature timeless patterns on modern living objects with the elegance and luxury of a “one of a kind” unique piece.
